A Gambling App Where You Own the House
They say that when it comes to gambling, “the house” always wins. But what if you could own the house?
That’s what Upside offers. It’s the first fantasy sports and betting platform that uses a player-ownership model. Essentially, users (i.e., the players) become shareholders through gameplay and referrals. Thirty percent of Upside’s equity is reserved for its community of players. That way, even when your bets lose, you win by increasing the company’s shareholder value and growth.
Last year, Americans bet nearly $120 billion on sports, up more than twenty-seven percent from 2022.
Upside has raised more than one million dollars and successfully operated games with CBS Sports, SB Nation, and Intercom. Co-Founder Mark Brenner has taken two companies to billion-dollar valuations, and pioneered the first legal home-wagering service in the U.S. This service is now affiliated with FanDuel, a gambling platform valued at around thirty-five billion dollars.
