Smart Clothing for Physical Therapy
PhysiSens is developing smartwear to help physical therapists accurately diagnose and treat patients.
Physical therapy is a nearly fifty-billion-dollar market in the U.S. But the rise of telehealth — receiving care virtually as opposed to in-person — has created challenges for physical therapists to properly diagnose and assess patients’ health.
By using PhysiSens’s smart wearables, including the company’s smart shirt and smart sleeve, therapists can closely monitor and track a patient’s progress. Each wearable is embedded with sensors and works with software to help guide the therapy process.
PhysiSens has created a proof of concept for its smart wear and has two received two provisional patents. The company completed the Accelerator for Biosciences in Connecticut in 2021 and was awarded a research & development grant from the University of Bridgeport.
