QuantmRE

Americans have twenty-eight trillion dollars in equity locked up in their home. Chances are, you have some, too. Wouldn't it be great to access this equity without taking out a loan or selling your entire home?

That’s what QuantmRE offers. This real-estate company enables homeowners to sell a piece of their home equity — say, twenty percent — to an investor. In exchange, they receive a check, with no strings attached. The investor, meanwhile, provides the money and receives an ownership stake in the property.

This arrangement is called a Home Equity Agreement. QuantmRE has already originated more than twelve million dollars' worth of these agreements and raised capital from venture-capital firms like X Squared Ventures and Zain Ventures.

Team Background

Dave Sterlitz - Co-Founder & Compliance Officer

Dave is considered an expert in “shared equity,” the central piece of QuantmRE’s business model. In addition, he’s spent more than twenty years as an attorney for global financial institutions.

He began his career as Assistant Vice President and Counsel for Wells Fargo. He was Lead Attorney for the company’s Retail Bank Operations and advised the company on its commercial lending activities.

From there, he became senior counsel at HSBC, one of the largest investment banks in the world. While there, he provided legal guidance on consumer credit, lending, and licensing requirements.

More recently, he was Managing Director and Associate General Counsel with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. He worked in the company’s America division, acting as Managing Attorney for the consumer lending, retail bank, and commercial operations divisions.

After that, he spent two years as Chief Legal Officer for EquityKey, one of the first companies to enter the shared equity market.

From there, Sterlitz became General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Dividend Finance, a company providing residential and commercial property owners with affordable financial solutions.

He earned a Law degree from Emory University and is a member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of San Diego.

Matthew Sullivan - Co-Founder & CEO

Matthew is a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in the real estate industry.

He’s the Founder of an online real estate investment platform and two real estate-focused investment funds.

Sullivan attended Westminster School in London and studied Law at Birmingham University. From there, he pursued a career in finance, and became Chief Operating Officer at McCarthy Corporation, a venture capital firm.

After that, he worked alongside Sir Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin Group, and served on the company’s corporate finance team. He was eventually promoted to a director and became Trustee of Virgin’s London Air Ambulance. This charity operates a helicopter medical service to respond to emergencies around London.

Following that, Matthew founded Brightfibre Communications, a telecommunications company. He led this company for two years before co-founding Copernicus Global Billing Services, Europe’s first internet billing application service provider.

He continued to lead companies in the communications and finance markets until 2008, when he founded Clearway Sustainability Resources, an energy company focused on carbon management. He served as CEO of this company for 12 years, during which time he also owned Carbon Retirement, a company dedicated to helping businesses offset their carbon footprints.

More recently, Matthew co-founded Secured Real Estate Income Strategies, a fund focused on short-term financing of residential and commercial real estate properties. He also founded Crowdventure.com, an online real estate investment platform enabling accredited investors to participate in real estate investments in the U.S.

In addition to leading QuantmRE, Matthew hosts a podcast called “Hooked on Startups.” On the podcast, he speaks with entrepreneurs about their journey to success.
